A rhythm of curve and crack
Clay detaches easily from objects: a lump becomes coils, hollows, a rhythm of curve and edge. Abstract clay sculptures for sale in the 500 to 1,000 euro bracket belong where form alone is allowed to be enough.
Abstract work in clay lives on traces: a thumbprint, an incised line, a coil that warps slightly in the kiln. Unlike smooth materials, the making stays visible. Dark slips emphasize grooves, pale glazes make edges glow. Especially in small format, you see how much tension a piece of earth can hold.

Plinth and light
A quiet surface of wood or plaster lets the structure work. Side light brings out every furrow, while frontal light flattens. Find out whether the underside is glazed or bare so furniture does not get scratched. Remove dust with a soft brush and keep moisture away. With small clay forms in particular, compare photos from several angles, because the silhouette changes strongly from side to side.
