Ground for dream logic
Acrylic gesso on canvas is the dependable floor for surreal scenes. Anyone seeking surreal acrylic paintings on canvas with gesso for sale finds pictures in which dream logic stands on a flawless, matte white surface.
Canvas primed with acrylic gesso is smooth yet absorbent. The thinly applied glazes above it stay luminous and cool. Surreal figures and objects stand out clearly from the ground without looking hard, because the white echoes beneath the paint.

Studying the details
Ask for close-ups of edges and shadows. They show how cleanly the contours are painted and how the gesso works with the paint. Surreal pictures live on this exactness, and it can be judged well in photos.
Placing and protecting
Canvas tolerates wall hanging without a frame if the edges are painted. Choose a spot without drafts and without direct sun. A white ground yellows faster in strong light, and fine traces of dust show more clearly on light surfaces.
