Trace of movement
Gestural drawing on a large scale is body work: you see the swing of the arm, the steps around the sheet, the pauses in between. Expressive drawings for sale from 2,000 to 5,000 euro suit walls that need a presence.
The sheet records how the artist works. Broad arcs, broken lines and overdrawing form a score that the eye reads off. At this tier, originals often show the confidence of long practice: every mark sits, even the seemingly random ones.

Hang large, leave it free
Gestural large formats ask for space around them. A single sheet on a free wall, not hung too high, has more effect than three small ones. A plain frame without decorative molding holds back and lets the energy of the paper speak.
Buying large works on paper
Ask about paper weight, medium, signature and the state of the edges, since large sheets crease more easily. Settle shipping and frame size beforehand. A note on earlier exhibitions or publications is helpful but never required.
