Originals in this selection, Sketch, Material Charcoal, under 500 euro.
Thinking broad
A sketch in charcoal is a quick thought with a black stick: broad, soft, without hesitation. You can buy charcoal sketches for sale under 500 euro here if you look for energy and beginnings.
You sketch with charcoal differently than with pencil: it is about mass, weight and movement, not detail. Figures, buildings and landscapes arise from areas and axes. The sketch shows how a motif builds up in the head of the draftsperson.

Sketches as an entry
Under 500 euro, sketches are often at the center. They are handy, feel direct and are easy to combine. Three sheets of the same format in identical frames form a little study of motif and stroke.
Clarify the condition
Sketches are often detached from pads. See what the edge looks like and whether traces of binding remain. Smudges and fingerprints belong to charcoal but should not land randomly in the white space.
