"III 18 - Self portrait as centaur with crossbow" by Uli Lächelt is a compelling painting that merges mythological symbolism with modern abstraction. The artist employs fluid, multicolored lines to delineate the figure of a centaur, blending human and animal forms with an expressive, almost calligraphic quality. The sparse background contrasts with the intricate line work, emphasizing the dynamic posture of the centaur poised with a crossbow. This painting evokes themes of duality, strength, and introspection, inviting viewers to explore the complex identity embodied in the self-portrait. Lächelt’s use of color and line creates a vivid tension between form and space, making this work a striking exploration of self and myth through contemporary artistic language.
