It Felt Like You was inspired by my visit to Giverny in spring 2026. As I walked through the gardens, certain combinations of colour, light and movement felt unexpectedly personal — as though the character of someone familiar could be recognised in the landscape.
Created later in my studio, the painting developed into a vibrant semi-abstract garden filled with saturated red, pink, yellow, blue, violet and green. A pale pathway moves through the composition, drawing the viewer deeper into layers of flowers and foliage. Expressive brushwork allows recognisable forms to appear and dissolve, preserving the immediacy of the original impression.
The title describes a feeling that is difficult to explain but easy to recognise: when a place, a colour or the quality of light suddenly feels like someone you know. Influenced by Giverny and Impressionism, the painting is joyful, intimate and full of movement.
