"I 90 - Two dead flies at the edge of the table" by Uli Lächelt is a compelling painting that explores the delicate boundary between presence and absence. The artist employs a subtle palette of muted earth tones, punctuated by minimalistic, abstract line work that suggests the fragile forms of two flies. These figures hover near the edge of an indistinct surface, evoking a sense of stillness and quiet contemplation. The textured background, with its soft blending and occasional bursts of color, contrasts with the sharp, almost scribbled outlines of the flies, creating a dynamic tension within the composition. This painting invites reflection on themes of mortality and the ephemeral nature of life, rendered through Lächelt’s distinctive, evocative style.
