Held Against the Current explores resistance as a rhythmic force. Gestural marks push against one another, creating tension through collision rather than flow. Color operates as pressure—applied, interrupted, and held in place—while visible pauses and overlaps prevent resolution. The work stops at the moment where movement resists settling, allowing instability and friction to remain present.
