Hairy willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum) escorted by the Common reed (Phragmites australis)
Original artwork description
In this monotype, the great willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum) emerges as a delicate, almost luminous presence from the darkness, accompanied by the clear, ascending lines of reed (Phragmites australis). The central plant appears like a fleeting body of light—its fine blossoms dissolving into shimmering particles, as if captured at the very moment of fading.
The linear strength of the reeds frames this fragile form, providing structure and direction. Between them unfolds a quiet tension: the solid and the ephemeral, the tangible and the dissolving. Soft transitions and grainy traces of the printing process give the image an atmospheric vibration, as if the scene were gently moving in a summer breeze or drifting through evening haze.
The work evokes a liminal space—between water and land, between visibility and disappearance. It invites the viewer to perceive the transient beauty of a moment where light, plant, and imprint merge into a poetic unity.
