Ground Elder (Aegopodium podagraria) escorted by Field Horsetail (Equisetum arvense)
Original artwork description
In this monotype, the delicate silhouettes of ground elder and field horsetail unfold like fleeting memories of a summer meadow. Plants often dismissed as stubborn, unwanted weeds in the garden are here transformed, revealing an unexpected sense of dignity and quiet beauty. The pale negative forms of the leaves emerge almost ghost-like from the dark background, as if light itself had touched the plants and preserved their essence.
Fine, threadlike structures of the horsetail weave through the composition, while the distinctive, feathered leaves of the ground elder create gentle rhythmic accents. The image exists between presence and absence, imprint and dissolution—while subtly questioning our perception of value and significance in the natural world.
The printing process leaves traces of chance and intention, turning each detail into a quiet dialogue between nature and artistic intervention. The work invites the viewer to reconsider the overlooked and rejected, discovering a fragile beauty within what is usually regarded as mere nuisance.
