Color as outburst
Expressionism lets feeling win over form: colors turn too hot, lines too hard, figures too large. Expressionist mixed media works with acrylic are for sale in this price band for readers who want a wall with temperament.
With acrylic, many layers can be stacked in one session without losing spontaneity. Thick applications with a palette knife, charcoal in wet ground, paper scraps between red and blue: the result looks effortful and reaches truthfulness that way. The title on the back or in the catalog text can reveal a lot too. In expressionist work, feelings, places or memories often stand behind it. Read the description, but above all trust your own reaction in front of the picture.

Room for force
Larger expressionist works carry far. A room with light walls and few knickknacks lets the color speak. Dark, flat frames hold the energy together. Two sheets with related colors form a pair with tension.
Before buying
Ask about the thickness of application, weight and hanging. Thick pastes need time to dry through, so a note on the date of creation is helpful.
