Almost landscape-like in effect, a bright, expansive space opens up at the top, in which delicate hatching and cloud-like forms glide across the paper like fleeting movements. Below, charcoal and graphite condense into a powerful, grainy surface that creates depth and draws the eye inward. The clearly defined, darkly accentuated lines appear decisive and precise, yet open enough to leave room for thought.
The surface reveals many small decisions: scratches, erasures, soft transitions, condensations, fine graphic hints. They give the work a rhythm that only becomes fully apparent at second glance.
